New Law for Transporting Bait (Crayish) in Pa Waterways

Effecttive January 1, 2015

1. No cryfish species shall be approved for open0system propogation and introduction into the waters of the Commonwealth.  The culture and ropogation of crayfish will still be permitted in closed systems, if the participant is registered for artificial propogation wit the Bureu of Aniaml Health and Diagnostic Services.

2. There is a restriction on the sale of all live naive and nonnative crayfish in this Commonwealth, except when they are sold for testing and scientific purposes, or restaurant consumption.  The point of origin and destination must be documented with every delivery.  It will be illegal to sell live crayfishin pet stores and bait shops.

3. Licensed anglers mat still harvest 50 crafish/day.  The crayfish hhead must be immediately removed behinf the eyes  upon capture unless the crayfish used as bait in the waters fro where they were taken.  If an angler wished to transport the cratfish from the waters from which they were collected, the angler must removee the head from behind the eyes.
